First Saturday Contemplative Prayer Service

First Saturday Contemplative Prayer Service

Saturday, September 07, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: Fellowship Hall | Third Church, 708 East 13th St, Pella, IA US 50219

Many Christians practice solitary rhythms of prayer before God. First Saturdays, a new worship experience at Third Church, offers opportunities to experience contemplative prayer rhythms as a community.

In preparation for this new opportunity, on Saturday, September 7, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm, Laine Korver will introduce the purple prayer book, Venite, and share an outline/explanation of what to expect at a First Saturdays service. Beginning October 5, a team of worshipers will host a contemplative worship service on the first Saturday of each month until May 2, 2020. The Liturgy of the Christian Year, a guide of the ancient/future Christian Community for apprenticeship to Jesus, will also be our guide. Art, color, symbol, and prayer stations will be available for participants to engage in worshiping the Trinity. In community, we will learn to pause (Selah)—to be open, to prepare, to wait, to rest and to listen in a culture of quiet time.
