Fall 2010 Opportunities to GROW


GROW represents our journey of becoming like Jesus in Word and Spirit. Jesus was the merging of the Word and Spirit, so we GROW and become like Him today through the Word and Spirit. To GROW is essential for us because the depth and breadth of our faith hinges on whether or not we are growing.

GROWING is process-oriented in our lives. Our discipleship life is also a process, or a JOURNEY of developing in Christ-likeness. Because of this reality, the GROW opportunities at Third Church are best presented as JOURNEYS. A JOURNEY involves process, action, movement, change, experiences, stops and starts, variety, humdrum and surprises. There are many JOURNEYS available within the key faith areas of essential discipleship, character, healing and calling, and multiplication, ministry and mission.

Essential Discipleship

  • FOUNDATIONS JOURNEY is a place to explore the basics of the Christian faith in simple, systematic and life-changing ways, and grow in your relationship with God.
  • SHARED JOURNEY targets the ongoing and specific needs of believers in a life of faith through a variety of large and small group opportunities.
Character, Healing, and Calling
  • EMERGING JOURNEY is a process to invest in the discipleship and formation of adult believers with a character, calling, and spiritual commitment focus.
  • ULTIMATE JOURNEY is a healing and discipleship ministry which helps participants move toward wholeness and hopefulness in their lives.
Multiplication, Ministry, and Mission
  • SACRED JOURNEY focuses on making space for God and uses additional resource for content and experiential components.
  • EQUIPPING JOURNEY is a process that focuses on equipping and mobilizing individuals and teams for ministry and mission.
  • ENRICHING JOURNEY is a process of learning to move beyond leading to the development of others and disciples and leaders.

Please note our weather cancellation policy:
The Adult Discipleship weather cancellation policy follows the Pella Schools decision to cancel or delay.  If classes are delayed in the morning, our classes and events are canceled until noon.  If there is an early out, evening classes and events are canceled.  If school is canceled for the day, all classes and events at Third are canceled for the day as well.
